At Dilworth’s Custom Designs, we’ve been at this a long time and one thing is true… no two remodels will ever be the same. Every homeowner has different tastes and a different style home so, even if we’re collaborating with two similar farmhouse owners, the results can be radically different. Take this kitchen for instance, it’s classic in every sense of the work but the selection of a few unique elements yields a really different result. By allowing the unusual dark soapstone to be the star of the show this classic kitchen scores unique points and who wants to be the same?
Not only did this striking kitchen design call for black soapstone featuring some subtle gauzy veining but the main sink and wet bar sink on the island are also composed of the unique material. The design of both sinks also sets them off as unique as well and nickel-plated fixtures accentuates the exclusive presence of soapstone throughout this otherwise classic country kitchen. Black, wrought-iron hardware on the light cabinetry is highlighted by the warm wood floor.
While the light cabinetry contrasts with the dark soapstone sinks and surfaces– including the range back, completely contrasting styles also create visual interest and a unique approach in this kitchen. The striking blacks and light grays are suddenly met with a huge custom hutch– navy cabinet faces with natural wood surfaces and golden hardware are diametrically opposed enough to the rest of the room (in Paris Rain and Black Soapstone) to really work!
